Year 8 student is runner up in city-wide writing competition
Billy, a year 8 student, was awarded as runner up in Brighton & Hove’s Crossing the Teas Flash Fiction Competition for Under 18s.
BACA’s English Department encouraged all KS3 students to participate in this writing competition, which challenged them to write a story 750 words or less involving the subject of tea. The competition was run by Crossing The Teas in partnership with the Heritage Lottery Fund and Brighton & Hove City Libraries. Crossing The Teas is a Brighton-based Creative Heritage project that explores different cultural practices around the universal custom of drinking tea.
You can read ‘The Great Tea Adventure’ by Billy here. You can also view the story at the Jubilee Library from Monday 22nd June - Thursday 16th July where it is on display as part of the Crossing The Teas Oral History and Photography Exhibition.
Billy and his Mum were delighted to attend the awards ceremony at Crossing The Teas Big Tea Party at the Brighton Dome Studio Theatre on Sunday 21 June.
This is a fantastic achievement, congratulations Billy!
