Whole School Assembly: Taking Responsibility

Whole School Assembly: Taking Responsibility

The theme of the Whole School Assembly for term 1 was ‘Taking Responsibility’.  Principal Davies explored this topic with students by looking at a few engaging stories that showed people either taking responsibility for their actions or placing the blame on others.  These stories were used to inspire students to think about their own actions and their learning and to start to think about how they can take responsibility in their own lives.

BACA’s Junior Leadership Team (JLT) is made up of passionate students who are great role models.  The team is taking responsibility for improving BACA for the benefit of all students.  A few JLT representatives shared their latest work during the assembly and announced that applications are open for new members.

Following the inspiring presentations from Principal Davies and the Junior Leadership Team, students who took responsibility for their learning in term 1 were invited on stage to accept entrepreneurship and platinum awards.  Entrepreneurship awards are given to students who show exceptional skills in teamwork, problem solving, creativity, risk taking, passion or determination.  The Platinum Award is given to one student in each house who has excelled in all of these skills.

Then, the winner of the house cup for term 1 was revealed.  This is always highly competitive and we were delighted to see Malala, the year 7 house, win!

Fantastic musical performances from students across all age groups opened and closed the assembly, which was a phenomenal way to start the morning.
