Welcoming the Rugby World Cup to Brighton
On Tuesday 21st July a group of enthusiastic art and design students from BACA worked with professional artist, Bec Britain from Same Sky. The group worked as part of a larger team of artists commissioned to create original art work inspired by the Rugby World Cup. To create their designs, the students examined iconic images from each of the four countries who are visiting and playing in Brighton (United Sates of America, South Africa, Samoa and Japan) and used these as inspiration for a selection of logos to represent each team.
The student’s designs were used to decorate 22 flags which are now hanging in Jubilee Library, in the centre of Brighton. Ten are positioned in the first floor window and can be seen from outside and the other twelve are hanging in the main library.
