University of Sussex/Kazakhstan Visit

University of Sussex/Kazakhstan Visit

On Friday 9th May, we hosted eight academics as part of the Bolashak Scholarship programme. Their host from Sussex, Asst. Professor Marcelo Staricoff joined them to have a tour of the school, visit lessons, and meet with Mr Davies, Mrs McMullan and students. The scholars and Marcelo enjoyed their visit immensely, and Marcelo left hoping to facilitate even more work with BACA, building further on our already very strong partnership with the University of Sussex.

From Marcelo himself:

On behalf of the visiting Bolashak Scholars and the University of Sussex, I would like to extend the most enormous thank you to you all for giving us the most incredibly inspirational day at the school. We could not have enjoyed the day more and we are so grateful for your fabulous hospitality and all your warmth and kindness throughout the day which made it all so enjoyable and so memorable.
Thank you so much Jack and Tara for the initial talk in your office Jack, the overview of the school that you gave us was so fascinating to listen to and we are all in awe of your organisational processes, a real masterclass in school leadership for us all. Thank you for inviting the students to then chat with us, so fascinating for us to chat with them and they are such a credit to all you are striving to achieve at BACA, they will make such excellent ambassadors in Y11.
Thank you so much too for giving us the opportunity to experience the History and Languages Lessons, we loved the love of learning climate in each lesson and the way that the pedagogy is so inclusive and so well rooted on creative thinking and challenge. Thank you so much too for giving us the opportunity to experience the 6th Form too, please say a huge thanks to Tom, we could not believe how amazing the construction aspect of the college is, so unique for us to see, the students are very lucky indeed to be learning with such amazing facilities and teachers.
The scholars enjoyed it all so much, including the really delicious lunch, and their end of day reflections were so formative in terms of gaining knowledge of the UK system but also of transforming and enriching their own practice.
I am very excited about the opportunity to keep enriching the collaborative work between our Departments and I really look forward to booking in a follow up chat very soon.
