Re-enacting the Battle of Hastings

Re-enacting the Battle of Hastings

On the 19th and 20th of October over 80 year 7 students from Brighton Aldridge Community Academy visited Battle Abbey to see first-hand where the Battle Of Hastings was fought. The trip included supplementing classroom learning with a tour of the battle site followed by a re-enactment of the battle using the tactics learnt in lessons.  The re-enactment, although not on the scale of the actual battle in 1066, drew spectators who commented on the gusto of the students.

The trip also included exploring the original monastery and crypt where the bodies were put after the battle.

The day was a fantastic experience for all students and staff alike and we look forward to taking next year’s year 7.

Many thanks to Miss Crush, Mr Wise, Mrs Clarke and Miss Hamm for helping out over the two days.
