Practising French at the Lille Christmas Markets

Students studying French at BACA used their foreign language skills in December at Christmas Markets in Lille.  Joining students from Portslade Aldridge Community Academy for an early morning start everyone set out excitedly on the chilly winter morning.  After traffic delays and a rocky ferry crossing from Southampton the students were very happy to finally arrive in Lille and explore the festive markets and shops.  They practiced their French as they bought gifts for family and friends and yummy treats such as waffles, crepes and churros for themselves.  They encountered difficulty knowing and remembering some words but worked together to communicate with the French stall owners.  Their confidence in speaking French grew throughout the day and they were pleased with the interesting gifts they were able to bring back for Christmas.
