Message to all parents and carers 19/03/2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

The academy remains open today and tomorrow to students who are able to attend. It will close from the end of the day on Friday for the majority of students and staff.

Detailed plans for the continuity of learning for all students have been put together and will be published shortly. For this week students at home should be accessing learning materials placed on Show My Homework by their teachers, while from Monday they will be following a more structured learning plan depending on their year group.

Schools will remain open for students whose parents are classified as critical workers who need their students to be looked after in order for them to continue working, keeping our city and services running at this time of unprecedented challenge. It is possible that this service will continue into the Easter holidays.

Please can you respond to this message today, either by email to or by phone 01273 691 191, with your name, occupation and the name of your child(ren) if you and/or any other adults in your household work in one of the following sectors and you intend to send your child to school from Monday.

  • NHS

  • teachers and educational support staff

  • other school support staff (eg cleaners, kitchen staff)

  • social workers

  • police

  • supermarket staff

  • armed forces personnel

  • delivery drivers

  • childcare workers

We will also be open to students with an EHCP and some other vulnerable students and we are contacting families directly in relation to this.

I am also conscious that parents with students in Year 11 and Year 13 will be anxious for further information following the announcement of the cancellation of summer exams. We will contact you separately in relation to this but for the time being, while we understand this must be a confusing and unsettling time for students, we will be ensuring that they get the best possible support and that their continuing courses and study expectations remain the same.

If you require any further information or support, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
