Message to all Parents and Carers

Dear Parent/Carer,

I am writing following the latest government statement on coronavirus which gives guidance on the initial steps required to delay the spread of the virus.

The full statement from the Prime Minister can be found at https://www.gov.uk/government/speeches/pm-statement-on-coronavirus-12-march-2020.

The key parts of the statement are:

“From tomorrow [13-3-2020], if you have coronavirus symptoms, however mild – either a new continuous cough or a high temperature – then you should stay at home for at least 7 days to protect others and help slow the spread of the disease.

We advise all those over 70 and those with serious medical conditions against going on cruises and we advise against international school trips.”

And

“We are not - repeat not - closing schools now. The scientific advice is that this could do more harm than good at this time. But we are of course keeping this under review and this again may change as the disease spreads. Schools should only close if they are specifically advised to do so. And that remains our advice.”

As a result, please call or contact via the Xpressions app in to inform us if your child is staying at home under the government advice above.

We will continue to run the school as normal so that students have a safe place to learn. We will continue to abide by the government advice and if we receive any further information we will let you know immediately.

We are aware that these are unusual times that present challenge and stress to our community. We are revising our contingency plans now and our objective is to give every pupil at BACA the best education we can, whether we can keep the school open or not.
