Gala Dinner supports Cricket Tour to South Africa February 2015

Aldridge Cricket Academy raises money for student Tour to South Africa February 2015

The Aldridge Cricket Academy (ACA) is sending 25 students from Brighton Aldridge Community Academy (BACA) and Portslade Aldridge Community Academy (PACA) on a Cricket Tour to Cape Town, South Africa in February 2015.

The first major fundraising effort for the tour was a Gala Dinner held at BACA on Tuesday 14 October.  The evening saw many big names from Sussex County Cricket Club with former players John Barclay and John Spencer as hosts for the event and Luke Wright (who also plays T20 for England) as an honoured guest.  Luke undertook an insightful Q&A session after the meal and answered many topical questions from ACA players.

Leading up to the dinner the ACA players practiced how to serve food, attend to guests and on the night they played an integral role in the delivery of the Gala Dinner.  Canapes and the outstanding four course meal were prepared by Mr Hodgson, 'chef' at BACA, and four of the year 10 Catering students he teaches.

The Gala Dinner raised £18,000 for the Tour fund.

Other opportunities to support these students on their tour will be available over the coming months; currently if you would like to help we invite you to advertise in the tour brochure.  For more details email Director of Cricket Alexia Walker - a.walker@paca.uk.com.
