England vs Wales
On Thursday 17 June, BACA students were given the choice to watch England vs Wales in the second group game of the Euro 2016 Championships. The hall was set up with both the English and Welsh flags and the big screens ready to show the game to 450 students. Staff raised funds for the Rocking Horse Hospital by providing face painting and a tuck shop.
The students came down to the hall in time to sing the English national anthem before the 2pm kick off. Mr Davies made a grand entrance decked out in Welsh football shirt and carrying an inflatable daffodil and leak ready to join in the Welsh national anthem. There was a great atmosphere and you could feel the passion in the room.
Wales took the lead in the first half with a fantastic free kick from Gareth Bale. Then all hearts were in mouth when Jamie Vardy equalised with a scrambled goal. When Daniel Sturridge scored in the 91st minute, the hall exploded in joy with everyone on their feet apart from a lonely Mr Davies, head in hands.
“I am so proud of all the children and the way they conducted themselves both supporting England and taking part in other activities. It was fantastic to see students and staff pulling together and having a great afternoon. I thank everyone for their support and am over the moon England came through with the win too!” Mr Rowland
Other activities were provided for the students who did not want to watch the football which included; Dungeons and Dragons, PE, Science, Music, Spanish, Cooking and Gaming with the exciting atmosphere continued throughout the whole academy.
