Congratulations to our BACA College students on results day!

Congratulations to our BACA College students on results day!

We are very proud to share the success of the BACA Year 13 cohort who have achieved a superb set of results.

Principal Bob Speight commented "I am delighted for all of our students for achieving such great outcomes, and full of admiration for how positively they have all coped with the challenges of the last few months. It is sad that this terrific year group missed out on some of the experiences associated with the end of their school career. However, it is fantastic that they have achieved the great results that they all deserve that will allow them to move on to and flourish in the next stage of their education."

Performance in BTEC courses was outstanding, with a 100% pass rate for the sixth year in succession and students achieving an average grade of Distinction across all courses. 77% of grades were Distinction or better with over 30% at the top Distinction* grade. Students performed exceptionally well in Creative Media, in which 100% of entries achieved Merits and above, with over two-thirds being top Distinction* grades, and Sport, in which 81% achieved Distinction or Distinction* grade. At A level, 100% of entries received A*-C grades, and we have also seen 100% pass rates again for the suite of courses run by the BACA Construction Academy and our BIMM partners.

All BACA College students achieved the grades they needed to progress to their chosen destination, whether further study, employment or an apprenticeship. Students are choosing from a wide range of offers at universities including Liverpool, Leeds, Chichester, Bournemouth and Sussex.

Notable student successes include Tabby Coddington who achieved Double Distinction* for Creative Media and Steve Harman who achieved Distinctions in both Sport & Sport Science. Steve combined his academic studies with the Aldridge Cricket Academy and is taking 6 months out to play cricket on tour in Australia, "the opportunity to play cricket alongside studying for my exams isn't something that other colleges offer."

Curtis Pilsworth said "BACA College provided me with the personal support needed to keep on track with my studies when I found it tough. Without them, I definitely wouldn't be on my way to University to study Business and Management - the 1-on-1 atmosphere of the college really allowed me to thrive". Curtis achieved Double Distinction* for Creative Media and Distinction for Enterprise.

Kian Shorter was "over the moon" with his results, achieving two Distinction*s and a Distinction for Sport and Sport Science. His plans are to study Sports Therapy at the University of Bournemouth. He says that "the lessons at BACA College were really engaging and the staff were always on hand to help."

Delighted with his results, Jack Teasdale has confirmed his place at Liverpool John Moore University to study Accounting, he said "BACA gave me excellent career advice, ranging from the pros and cons to apprenticeships and university, to how to write a personal statement. They provided amazing opportunities to go away on university residentials, to experience different cities, learn about their course structure and get "the uni experience". BACA has truly helped me develop into a better student and a better citizen."

Assistant Principal Katie Paine commented, “Students and teachers across the country will have been nervously awaiting their post-16 results, worried that in this unique experience of distance learning, students could, through no fault on anyone’s part, miss out on grades they have worked tirelessly for. We are very pleased to be able to say that our results this year have improved in all areas and we congratulate every single student on these results.”
