Summer has never looked so bright!

SLAM is back with a unique programme of summer activities to help new year 7 students get excited about starting BACA in September. Choose from three different strands, each designed to help you get to know you way around the academy, meet staff and make friends whilst having some "proper good" summer fun.

FREE Summer Programme

Open to all new year 7 students

9, 10, 11 August 2016

Wherever possible, students will be matched with their preferred activity, however some activities are extremely limited and will be offered on a first come first served basis, so book now to avoid disapointment.

Each day will run from 9am to 3pm with a free breakfast club available from 8:30am at the start of each day.  In addition, students will recevie a free home cooked hot meal courtesy of the Foodies.

This year, to make the experience extra special, we are planning for all students to camp over on the school field. The school has a number of tents and sleeping bags available for students who do not have their own but we would encourage those who do have camping equipment to bring it along with them.

The programme will finish with an Awards Ceremony on Thursday 11 August at 2pm.  Come and see what the students have got up to and find out which of the entrepreneurial attributes they will be presented with.

There is no cost to attend SLAM but if you are allocated a place and no longer want it we ask that you let us know straight away so we can give it to someone on our reserve list – please don’t be a ‘no show’!

This year we have three different strands to choose from.

Here’s a little taste of each one to help you choose.

Become a Biker and you develop your riding skills, complete a proficiency test and learn basic bike maintenance techniques before heading off on a range of local rides.  Each ride will be increasingly more challenging, so get on a bike this summer and see how much ground you can cover.  Maximum capacity: 18.

Please note you do not need to own a bike to take part in this strand as BACA has a number of mountain bikes available for use.

Join the Foodies and get the chance to work in a professional kitchen as part of an elite team with our Community Chef. You will cook lunch for all SLAM participants, whilst developing a range of new skills, and recipes to try out on your friends and family.  Maximum capacity: 12 places.

Choose to be a Survivor and learn basic ancient living techniques and survival skills. You will take part in a range of bush craft activities whilst building self-motivation and resourcefulness as you become part of a team of survivors.

Maximum capacity: 25 places.

To book a place complete an application form and return it by Monday 27 June: via email: or call 01273 691 191.
