BACA Scholar Students Feature in NSEAD Magazine
A group of our BACA Scholar students have been working in partnership with the University of Sussex on a project called 'Beyond the Archive'. The project ran over the course of an academic year and involved a series of workshops on research, curating and illustration, devised by the University of Sussex's School of English.
Workshop activities included a trip to The Keep where they were given the opportunity to look at illustrations from the original copy of Oliver Twist, a book they had been studying in English the term before. The students were also able to peruse a selection of original novels, textbooks, and poetry collections dating back to the 1800's.
At the end of the project, our students worked with the University to decide which images they liked the best and then created their own drawings, poems and lino-cut stencils inspired by the illustrations. Their work has been beautifully displayed in an online exhibition on the Sussex University website, alongside their own commentary and ideas. - http://www.sussex.ac.uk/english/dalziel/beyond-the-archive/
The project has been such a success that our students work has also featured in the August 2020 issue of the NSEAD magazine! This magazine is 34 pages of key art, craft and design information, inspiration, ideas and resources for paying members and subscribers.
Well done to our BACA Scholars for this fantastic achievement and the completion of an amazing project!
