BACA Pride & Diversity Week 2019

BACA Pride & Diversity Week 2019

A huge congratulations to all the students and staff that made BACA Diversity week and BACA Pride a great success.  Our BACA Allys’ and Student Manager, Mr Adam Smith came together to create a week full of inclusive activities, cake sales and various fundraising events to support our local charity Allsorts

Allsorts has been a valuable resource for not only our school, but supporting both students and parents.  Through Allsorts, BACA had been awarded the Rainbow Flag Award for achievements in support and awareness for LGBT+ issues.  BACA was the first school in Brighton & Hove to be awarded “Outstanding” across all areas of the award.  These areas included Skilled Teachers, Inclusive Curriculum, Pastoral Support, Supportive Governors & ParentsEffective Policies and Student Voice.

On Friday 5 July, we held our own Pride event as a closure to celebrating Schools Diversity Week and in addition, students focused on tackling issues such as racism, religious discrimination and visible and non-visible disabilities in lessons.

As always the atmosphere around the academy was wonderful.  Students took extra time and went out of their way to support one another and show support for the LGBT+ community, raising over £500!
