BACA Open Evening 2014

BACA Open Evening 2014

On Wednesday 17 September, prospective students and their families were welcomed to BACA for a fun evening of meeting students and staff, taking part in engaging activities across all subjects areas and learning more about the Academy.

Our Principal, Mr Davies, gave two presentations during the evening and was welcomed to the stage by BACA’s rising music stars for each talk.  First, from year 11, Annabel gave an outstanding performance of ‘If I Ain’t Got You’ that rivalled Alicia Key’s herself.  For the second performance year 11 boy band Blazer Squad rocked the stage.  Mr Davies shared BACA's vision and the road ahead, looking at recent exam success and how we plan to build on this in the future.  He was joined on stage by Catherine, from year 10, who told the audience about all of the exciting things she’s done at BACA and then a short video clip showed Chloe, from year 8, and her Mum talk about their experience transitioning from primary school –

Many thanks to Latest TV for filming and producing this video.

Around the Academy students and their families met teachers and senior leaders and participated in a variety of fun activities including; dance, cricket and fitness training in the PE department, French and Spanish food tasting in Foreign Languages, a media quiz in English, chemical reactions, electromagnets and elephant toothpaste creation in Science, sausage roll making in Food Tech and in Maths parents perused exemplar work while the students challenged one another at educational games.

If you were unable to attend our Open Evening or would like to visit the Academy again we invite to our next Open Morning on Friday 3 October, 9-11am as well as our Welcome to BACA Afternoon on Thursday 16 October, 4-5pm.
