2014 Exam results update

2014 Exam results update

The new Government league tables mean that it is impossible to compare BACA’s 2014 exam results with previous years. Since August 2014, we have published our GCSE exam results at 50% achieving 5+ A*-C grades, including English and maths. This is a true reflection of our students’ achievements, taking into consideration their best entries and it is these final grades that matter to our students and to colleges, universities and future employers.

The rules changed last summer allowing schools to only register the results of their students’ first entry in GCSE examinations and the league tables published in January 2015 will portray a different picture for many schools. BACA students sat their exams early and the first entry results published in the league tables will show results as 28% achieving 5+ A*-C grades, including English and maths.  BACA students subsequently achieved better grades when re-taking exams later in the year.

We accentuate School Reform Minister, Nick Gibb’s words on how ‘young people are not statistics’ but are ‘individuals whose life chances depend on their results’. We commend our students who worked extremely hard on their exams, particularly when they had to cope with the rushed changes to the qualifications system. We also praise BACA’s teachers for their continuous support and dedication to ensuring their students reach their full potential.

We have ambitious plans for the future and are confident we will see accelerated progress and a significant increase in results in the coming years.
