Past Fixtures

Mr Smith - Fixtures Update (19 October 2018)

The Year 8 netball team put in a great performance on Monday 15 October whilst playing against Kings School. Players were: Ocean, Sigourney, Cienna, Isabella, Olivia, Kiara, Paris and Maddison from Year 7.  The final score was 10-7 to Kings School and despite the loss, they all showed great passion and determination.  Year 9 rugby team had their first league game of the season on Tuesday 16 October at Hove Rugby Club.  In our first game, we lost a very close contest to Patcham by 2-1.  Year 8 student Anajah scored a breakaway try from our own tryline.  In our second game, we unfortunately lost to a well drilled Blatchington Mill squad who had a number of club players.  BACA players demonstrated high levels of effort and commitment throughout both games with notable performances from Bredli, Kai and Louie.

Mr Smith - BACA Sporting Fixtures Update (12 October 2018)

Our Year 10 football team had a great win against Downlands on Monday, final score 4 - 0.  Whilst despite playing really well during the first half, in what was their first game of the season, our Year 7 netball team lost 6-0 to Kings School.  Our Year 7 rugby team lost two close contests to Varndean and Dorothy Stringer.  The team played brilliantly in their first ever full contact games. On Thursday, a group of selected Year 7 and 8 students attended a Rugby Academy skills session at Cardinal Newman School.  The skills session is for talented rugby players from across Brighton and Hove.  Well done to Year 10 student Trammell who has been selected for the Sussex Schools FA Under 15's team.  Trammell, Nicholas and Ben have also been selected for Brighton Boys Under 15's team.  A great achievement and we look forward to hearing how they progress through the season.

Two students from BACA Sixth Form Cricket Academy, Tom McCreadie and Dale Stevenson, are now assisting Mr Harvey with coaching in the extra curricular cricket club on a Wednesday after school.  They are helping to promote cricket across the Academy and gain experience for their University applications.  All year groups are welcome to come along and join in.

Mr Smith - Year 8 Rugby (5 October 2018)

Our Year 8 rugby team played in the Brighton and Hove Schools tournament on Thursday 4 October.  The team played well but lost to Dorothy Stringer and Varndean but a great win against PACA, with the final score 5-1. Anajah, Dylan and Arman were our top try scorers.  Well done to all the team!

Mr Dollner - BHTFC/Aldridge Football Academy vs Dorking Win 3 - 1 (21 September 2018)

Aldridge Football Academy (AFA) compete in the B division in the highly competitive league national league for the under 19 alliance. This is the Academy's second season at this level and we have a stronger, more experienced team this season; with more and more students signing up through open evenings and our link with our partner club, Burgess Hill Town F.C. (BHTFC). The team played at Dorking's new Meadowbank Stadium on their new 3G pitch.

Playing some neat and crisp football, they showed they were the better team for the opening 20 minutes. On the half hour mark, by the long ball, Dorking showed us they were capable of breaking our lines. However, on 40+ minutes, AFA took the lead with our first goal from Jay (PACA) and went into the half time break 1-0 up. Within 10 minutes of the second half, we were up 3-0 and effectively in total control of the game. Harrison (BACA) got our second goal and Jay got our third, his second, via a good header.

We probably took our foot off the pedal too early and allowed Dorking into the game to score and with 15 minutes of the match to go, putting on the pressure, but we rode that small storm and came out victorious with a 3-1. Teams that compete in the league alongside Aldridge Football Academy are Bromley, Dartford, Dorking, Dover, Eastbourne Borough, Ebbsfleet, Hastings, Maidstone, Sutton, Tonbridge & Whyteleafe and although they are tough teams, a win on the first game not only means we are 3 points up, but this is a great confidence boost as we prepare to face Dover in our next game.
