BACA Celebrates GCSE Results Success
Brighton Aldridge Community Academy is celebrating its best ever GCSE results this year. The academy has improved by an amazing 20% on last year’s results for 5A*- C GCSEs including English and maths (50.7%).
BACA maintains its excellent record of progress in English and this year has seen a 15% increase in progress rates in maths. Over 50% of students achieved good passes in both English and maths.
Individual success stories include Pandora Douglas who achieved12 A*-C with 9A*-A, Rebecca Farley 12 A*-C with 6A*-A and Catherine Vaughan achieving 12A*-C with 5 A*-A. Amongst other notable performances were Sam Ahmed, Karl Rolph, Callum Thewliss, Zach Wilson and Gabriela Wojciechowska, Jade Anscombe-Elliot and Jenny Misfud, all gaining 10A*-C. We are also very proud of Keeley Wade, Blake Hall, Rosie Lee and Connor Harris for their personal success achieving 10, 7, 6 and 5 A*-C GCSEs respectively.
Principal Dylan Davies says, “the great leap in our results reflects the determination and commitment of the students, staff and the local community and the combined, passionate belief in our students and their ability to succeed. We are really excited to see so many of the students return to BACA College to be part of furthering the success of our 16-19 provision, which we also celebrated last week."
Mr Davies adds, "The Progress 8 measure also highlights further improvements for students across their subjects and augurs well for the Academy."
Chair of Governors, Peter Kyle said "improvements like this don't happen by accident. It takes students, teachers and the leadership team to work with extraordinary dedication, trust, and creativity. I've seen first-hand in the last year how staff have worked tirelessly to inspire students to achieve challenging goals, and students respond with energy and commitment. The Aldridge Foundation has underpinned all of this with remarkable and highly valued support that has really delivered for students.
These results are a springboard into the future and the whole school is focussed on creating more academic, social, and sporting opportunities for students."
To conclude, BACA is very proud to be part of the progressive Brighton and Hove secondary schools’ partnership and has worked closely over the last few years with all the local secondary schools.
“We believe this partnership has had a positive impact on our results and we look forward to continuing to work together to improve outcomes for the children in our city" adds Mr Davies.
