Brighton Aldridge Community Academy

New Parent Governors

Two new Parent Governors have joined the Academy's Local Governing Committee this term. We would like to welcome our first new Parent Governor, Jo Fish. Jo is a Deputy Headteacher at a local primary school and therefore has the knowledge and expertise of the Education System and understanding of local educational initiatives throughout Brighton and Hove. She is very passionate about education and has a background in supporting the most vulnerable children and those with special educational needs and disability.

Jo said: "As a parent of two girls who attend BACA I would like to be supportive to their secondary education by supporting the Academy in the best way I can. I believe in the best education for all!"

Each Academy Governor has specific responsibility for linking in with key staff in areas of school life that are particularly important. Jo will be Link Governor for Safeguarding and Welfare.

The second new Parent Governor is Warren Carter. Warren manages Moulsecoomb Forest Garden Project which has been offering an outdoor education to pupils, adults with learning disabilities and others for over 20 years. He is Chair of the Bevendean community pub, a governor at Moulsecoomb Primary, director of East Brighton Trust and on the business panel of Power to Change, a lottery funded programme that supports community business.

Warren will be Link Governor for community relations for the Academy.
