Art at Work
Art at Work is an exciting new arts education programme for students at the Brighton and Portslade Aldridge Community Academies.
It is a funded programme delivered by the Aldridge Foundation in partnership with two of Brighton and Hove’s leading arts organisations, Photoworks and Lighthouse, with the support of Brighton and Hove City Council.
Art at Work provides students with the opportunity to gain an understanding of how to become a creative professional through a range of first hand experiences. Art at Work informs, supports and promotes the creative use of technology in the classroom, setting up a range of activities to enable this. As well as setting up mentoring and shadowing schemes, visits to museums and galleries, Art at Work brings some of the UK’s best artists, photographers, creative technologists, game designers and digital developers into the Academies.
Photoworks are a registered charity and a National Portfolio Organisation, funded by Arts Council England.
Photoworks promotes engagement with modern photography and new thinking, collaborating with a range of artists and organisations, and engaging wide audiences. They produce exhibitions, books, participation and learning projects and events, such as the Brighton Photo Biennial.
Lighthouse is a leading digital culture agency, supporting, commissioning and showcasing work by artists and filmmakers.
As well as providing a vibrant venue for events in Brighton, Lighthouse supports artists and filmmakers by offering opportunities for development through commissions and mentoring programmes.
