Transition from Primary to Secondary School
At BACA we recognise that the transition from primary to secondary school is an exciting time, but can also be a daunting one for both students and parents alike.
To help with the transition from primary school we have an extensive programme in place coordinated by the Aldridge Regional Transition Manager Liz I’Anson. Ms I’Anson ensures that all students receive a positive, informative and motivational experience before starting at BACA and works very closely with Mr Austin the Head of Year 7 supporting all students.
The comprehensive programme for new students and parents is included in our transition handbook. The handbook includes useful information like an example timetable, important contact numbers, names of teachers and staff, school policies including homework guidelines, and other essential pre-start material. You can access the handbook here by clicking the link, or we can send you a hard copy upon request.
We want to make sure this significant step in your child’s education is smooth and supported. As a school we aim to help students.
- Develop new friendships as they start their new school
- Settle well into secondary life by offering many activities, after school clubs and revision groups
- Understand and adjust to the many different routines associated with secondary school And enjoy studying the variety of new subjects at secondary school and meeting many different and interesting teachers and people
Year 7 students are supported by year 8 transition buddies, who are trained in year 7 to support the new year 7 students.
The Academy is offering places for up to 180 year 7 students in September. Completed preference forms need to be received by Brighton & Hove School Admissions by 3.00pm on 31 October.
